Terrific article this morning β˜• Oliver, never in my life could I've imagined"Fascism"would be in the same sentence with a Presidential Election ?! Holding the Line here and will reStack ASAP πŸ’―πŸ‘πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒŠ

Thank you Karen! πŸ₯°

Yeah it's insane that we have to worry about fascism taking over America in 2024. You'd think humanity would learn from past mistakes, but nope.

It seems when the old people who lived through it are all dead, their wisdom and the memory of their experiences dies with them, and today's younger generations are just as clueless about fascism as Germans were before Hitler's rise to power.

The problem is, Holocost history wasn't taught, or the ugly parts got sanitized. Jew hatred was left out, and the consequences of blaming them, then others for your problems, destroys civilizations and everyone in them.

An excellent, very informative article.

My only complaint is that you characterize rural voters as yokels and rednecks.

I live in a rural area, with corn and soybean fields as far as can be seen. Most farmers support Trump. I hear it at the local diner. But they are good, intelligent people on balance. (Try using GPS to identify areas particularly in need of attention.)

I don't mean to be harsh, but everyone needs to be careful not to stereotype folks. But keep them coming about Trump.

Again, thank you for your article.

Thanks for the feedback, Stuart!

Hitler himself explained that fascist propaganda is designed to appeal to the dumbest of the dumb, because they don't know when they're being lied to. Lying to dumb people is how fascist propaganda works. Omitting that part for the sake of political correctness isn't helpful.

When you look at a bunch of different countries, you'll notice that it's always the low IQ/low info voters who fall for far-right propaganda lies.

And your laptop class think rural people are dumb. Sigh. And wonder why with 55% of voters you still occasionally lose elections.

Rural voters don't hate America. They hate the entrenched elites who run culture and government misusing and dictating to a country that isn't supposed to have dictators.

They hate technocracy.

But you're just trying to further stir the rural/urban divide, huh?

Ok Sergey.

By the way, how come most Russian troll accounts just have a first name and no last name?

I discovered earlier today that Alexander Dugin is on Substack. Every once in a while, I’ll follow a weirdo down a rabbit hole, get really creeped out and block/mute a bunch of people so I never see them again. Today I discovered Dugin on Substack, which sent me running back to my normal feed.

Anyway, it isn’t just Twitter and I’m finding that Substack isn’t the community it seems when you look under the hood, since presumably they are making money from subs to Dugin & a ton of really violent and hateful Neo-Nazis.

None of these companies will ever self-regulate and at some point the govt is going to have to close off the country somewhat to protect its citizens.

We’ve got a really big problem & it’s not going away w/o some pretty dramatic measures. And that’s IF Kamala wins. Which she must:

Did you ever see this sketch from British comedy duo David Mitchell and Robert Webb? I thought it appropriate.

Democrats did not underestimate the MAGA cult! They simply couldn’t overcome it no matter how much effort they put into it. The majority of Americans chose as their next leader the obvious β€œenemy within”.

The Orange Dick-Traitor is not a "strongman" rather a wannabe who believes his own bull shit. He hasn't ordered the killing of an opponent. Let's hope it never gets that far.

Why do you think no one is doing anything? Fear or nukes?

I think the west is struggling to figure out how to stop Russia from spreading toxic disinformation in the west because Putin is using our freedom of speech against us. He's destroying democracy by using the freedoms democracy provides, and democracies haven't figured out an antidote yet.

The West is still oblivious to Russia’s information war: Paralyzed by free speech concerns, Western governments are loath to act.

Schools need to teach this and we need to strengthen Democracy and limit speech lies in so.e way, esp about or by politicians and government people. We must.

Yeah I agree. We need a national campaign to educate people about what fascism is, how to recognize it, and how to stop the spread of fascist propaganda.

We basically need to mentally vaccinate people against disinformation. We did it in the 1940s, and we need to do it again now:

The corporate media has failed to educate Americans on how fascist propaganda destroys democracy from the inside.

My father(Clayton Brubaker)said 40 years ago β€œThe country would fall from within. He said we could take the small community of Nappanee, Indiana build a concentration camp, and tell the citizens to be guards to serve their country. My father is gone, but he was very prescient. He was so right about so many things.

Your posts show up in my feed, prob due to similar follows, and I know they’re so, so important, but I’m so, so scared to click and read them, never mind follow for daily doses! What hope I manage to drum up about our civic life is so easily shaken by the knowledge of bad actors out there pulling strings behind the scenes.

I've been trying to pump out as much anti-Trump information and quality content as I can before the election, to do whatever I can to help Kamala win.

I don't want to blame myself afterwards, that I could have done more. We need to win this! But I'm exhausted. On Wednesday November 6th I'm gonna sleep all day, come what may! I gotta recuperate and recharge my batteries. Lol

Yeah, it's crazy how much stuff is happening behind the scenes, and how it's all connected. Putin is like a comicbook super villain. Orange Hitler and Nazi Elmo are rookies compared to Putin.
